وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنفُسَكُم بِاتِّخَاذِكُمُ الْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوا إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَاقْتُلُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ ذَ‌ٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِندَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

Aur jab Musa Alaihi Salam ne apni qaum ke logon se kaha ki bhaeeyo tumne bachde ko (maabud) thahrane mein zulm kiya hai , to apne RABB ke samne tauab sakro, aur apne aapko Qatl karo (Yani jinhone shirk nahi kiya wo shirk karne walo ko qatl karenge) tumhare khaliq ke nazdeek yahi behtar hai, (Qatl karne ke baad) phir usne tumhara Qusur maaf kar diya, wo beshak sabse zyada maaf karne wala aur raham karne wala hai
Surah Al Baqarah (2), 54

Tafsir : Allah subhahau ne Musa Alahai salam ki qaum ko hukm diya ki wo ek dusre ko qatl kare (Yani jinhone shirk nahi kiya wo shirk karne walo ko qatl karenge) aur jin jin logo ne bachrda puja tha innhen baitha diya aur dusre log khade ho gaye , aur Qatl karna shuru kiya, kudrati taur per andhera chaaya hua tha, jab wo hata to unhne rok diya gaya to shumar kerne per malum hua ke 70,000 Aadmi Qatl ho chuke hai ,aur sari Qaum ki tauba Qubul huyee, Ye ek Sakht farman tha jis 
se un logo ne pura kiya yaha tak ke Rehmat E Ilahi ne innhen bakhh diya ,Aur Hazrat Musa Alahaisalam ne farma diya ke ab bas kero, Maqtul ko shaheed ka ajer diya gaya , aur Qatil ki aur baqi tamam logo ki tauba Qubul farmaye aur 
innhen jihad ka sawab diya

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنفُسَكُم بِاتِّخَاذِكُمُ الْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوا إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَاقْتُلُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ ذَ‌ٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِندَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: "O my people! Verily, you have wronged yourselves by worshiping the calf. So turn in repentance to your Creator and kill yourselves (the innocent kill the wrongdoers among you), that will be better for you with your Creator." Then He accepted your repentance. Truly, He is the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.
Surah Al baqarah (2), 54

Explanation : Allah ordered Musa to command his people to kill each other. He ordered those who worshiped the calf to sit down and those who did not worship the calf to stand holding knives in their hands. When they started killing them, a great darkness suddenly overcame them. After the darkness lifted, they had killed seventy thousand of them. Those who were killed among them were forgiven, and those who remained alive were also forgiven.'
