Tafsir Ibn kathir : Abu jahal ne badar wale din kaha tha ki Eh Allah hum mein se jo rishte naato ko todne wala ho aur gair maruf cheez lekar aaya ho usko ladayee mein shikast de phir Allah subhanahu ne wahi kiya uska lashkar haar gaya , makka se nikalne se pahle *un mushriko ne khana kaba ka gilaf pakad kar dua ki thi Ya ilahi dono lashkaro mein se tere nazdeek jo zyada aala ho aur zyada behtar aur buzurgi wala ho tu uski madad farma*, uske baad un mushriko ki shikasht huyee  aur Allah ne ye aayat nazil farmayee

Tafsir Ibn kathir , Surah Anfal (8), Aayat 19

Al Quran : (Kaafiron) Agar tum faisla chahte ho to tumhare paas faisla aa chuka hai aur agar baaz aa jao to tumhare liye behtar hai aur agar phir bhi yahi karoge to hum bhi phir yahi karenge aur tumhari jameeyat zara bhi kaam nahi aayegi , chahe wo bahut ho, Beshak Allah imaan walo ke saath hai

Surah Anfal (8), verse 19

*إِن تَسْتَفْتِحُوا فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمُ الْفَتْحُ ۖ وَإِن تَنتَهُوا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَإِن تَعُودُوا نَعُدْ وَلَن تُغْنِيَ عَنكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ*

Tafsir Ibn kathir : Abdullah bin Tha`labah bin Su`ayr who said that Abu Jahl said on the day of Badr, "O Allah! Whichever of the two camps (pagans and Muslims) severed (cut) the relation of the womb and brought us what is not familiar, then destroy him this day. *Before the idolators left Makkah for Badr, they clung to the curtains covering the Ka`bah and supplicated to Allah for victory, O Allah! Give victory to the exalted among the two armies, the most honored among the two groups, and the most righteous among the two tribes.* After that pagans got defeated and Allah revealed this verse.

Tafsir Ibn kathir :Surah Anfal (8), verse 19

Al Quran : (O disbelievers) if you ask for a judgement, now has the judgement come unto you; and if you cease (to do wrong), it will be better for you, and if you return (to the attack), so shall We return, and your forces will be of no avail to you, however numerous they be; and verily, Allah is with the believers.

Surah Anfal (8), verse 19
