It has been reported on the authority of Nafi, that 'Abdullah b. Umar paid a visit to Abdullah b. Muti' in the days (when atrocities were perpetrated on the People Of Medina) at Harra in the time of Yazid b. Mu'awiya.
Sahih Muslim, Book 20, Hadith 4562
Narrated Abdullah bin Zaid that in the time (of the battle) of Al-Harra a person came to him and said, Ibn Hanzala is taking the pledge of allegiance from the people for death. He said, I will never give a pledge of allegiance for such a thing to anyone after Allah's Apostle.

Narrated Said bin Al-Musaiyab: When the first civil strife (in Islam) took place because of the murder of 'Uthman, it left none of the Badr warriors alive. When the second civil strife, that is the battle of Al-Harra, took place, it left none of the Hudaibiya treaty companions alive. Then the third civil strife took place and it did not subside till it had exhausted all the strength of the people.
Sahih Bukhari, Book 59, Hadith 358
'Abd al-Malik b. Nawfal reported that during battle of harrah army had departed from Yazid with Muslim bin Uqbah in command. Yazid had told him, "If anything happens to you, appoint Husayn b. Numayr al-SakUn1675 as your deputy." He also instructed him, "Leave the people for three days. If they agree to your demands, so be it. Otherwise fight them and when you overcome them, give license to pillage (rob) the city for three days. Whatever property, silver coins,weapons, and food are found belong to the army. When the three days have passed, withdraw from the people.
